A day before South Africa commemorates Youth Day on 16 June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

This day is especially significant to promote a better understanding of the abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.

As winter approaches, we are reminded of the challenges faced by frail and vulnerable older persons. The biting cold and harsh weather conditions take a toll on their already fragile bodies, leaving them more susceptible to illnesses and related health issues brought about by the winter season.

The Issy Geshen Lamont Home for the Aged has completed the build and upgrade of its dementia unit, providing specialised care for elderly residents living with dementia and related conditions.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, the elderly participated in our annual Mr & Mrs Valentine's competition. The ladies put their best foot forward and showed off their talents and beautiful Valentine's Day outfits

The elderly said goodbye to 2022 in style as they enjoyed a special lunch donated by Nando's Megacity on new year's eve. 

The festive season has long since been a tradition of surrounding yourself with those you care about most. These traditions are the centrepiece of the holidays and bring people together each year.

The Home held a Singing Festival. The wonderful event was hosted by 3rd Year Occupational Therapy students from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
